• Mission

Our lab investigates how the interplay of cognitive and affective processes gives rise to changes in mental health. By applying tools from computational cognitive neuroscience, we aim to uncover transdiagnostic factors that, when quantified dynamically in the context of an individual’s life, can be leveraged to foster improved mental health. We are committed to supporting the growth of a diverse team of researchers who conduct rigorous, mindful, open science. And we strive to make our scientific output reproducible, valuable to the wider scientific community, and accessible to the public.

  • Values

We wish to create a collaborative, diverse, kind, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone. Our research is based on the premise that individual differences are crucial and have meaningful implications for human psychology. We therefore believe it is important that our actions correspond to this fundamental assumption. As such:

    • We welcome everyone’s ideas, regardless of race, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic status, religion or culture.

    • We respect people’s multiplicities and intersectional backgrounds.

    • We continually reflect on how our work contributes to our understanding of mental health, ensuring that we do not lose sight of those whom our research aims to support.

    • We strive to promote equitable representation in the populations we study and the scholars we cite.

    • We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination.

In order to uphold our mission and values, we have collectively agreed to the expectations below.

  • Expectations

    • Be respectful of differing viewpoints and perspectives

    • Accept constructive criticism

    • Use welcoming and inclusive language

    • Show empathy towards other community members

    • Be collaborative and actively engaging with external group members

    • Be supportive of internal and external group members (e.g. providing feedback, troubleshooting support, code etc.)

    • Celebrate each other’s successes

    • Support each other through failed attempts, acknowledging that this is a natural part of science for everyone and work to lift each other up
